Colin and Tracy Ahearn - married couple in our 50s, 4 sons, 5 grandchildren, 1 cat and some fish, living in Western Australia.
We caught the travel bug nearly 20 years ago, and we have been travelling on-and-off ever since.
Over those years we have travelled to many destinations in Asia. We have been to Bali well over 50 times each, Phuket around 15 times, Kuala Lumpur - too many times to count, Singapore, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Kuching, Langkawi, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, and the list goes on.
We have taken 3 cruises out of Singapore and we have travelled to America and Canada twice. Col has been to America and Canada more than twice but that doesn't really count because that was before he met me :)
We now combine our love for travel with Col's love of photography, my love of Disney and our combined love for shopping (I know, how awesome, a husband who loves to shop!)
If you’re anything like us, occasionally you will feel the desire to get away from it all - to see what there is in this world that will fill you with meaning.
We all work so hard and our lives are so busy that we often forget to relax. I don't mean taking a quick break or having a poppy nap on a Sunday afternoon, I mean to totally relax, without having to worry about anything except where we will go for our next meal or is it too early for a drink!!
Travel provides this for us. It gives us an opportunity to laze by the pool, to watch the sun set over the ocean and to sleep in past breakfast time if that is what we want to do. It also gives us the opportunity to reconnect with each other and to remember why we are together!
We try to travel every chance we get - which for us is school holiday time. Planning starts well in advance as flights are booked as soon as they go on special!! It is a challenge for me to try to find flights for as cheap as possible - a challenge that I relish!
Travel is something that’s hard to define because each of us have our own interpretation of what the travel looks like.
